Your hosts, Veronica and Reg have a wealth of knowledge on the region, glean some of this information with coffee or byo wine while enjoying the vista out to the lake and cattle. Sandy Lake Farm in Muckenburra, 25kms east of Guilderton (Moore River meets Indian Ocean) and 22kms west of Gingin.
Best place to stay for the Gingin Observatory or Gravity Centre.

Roam around the gardens of mature gums, pinetrees, ancient paperbarks, acres of cool green lawn, roses and vegies, sample blueberries or mulberry. Stroll or power walk the 3.5km perimeter of the whole farm and then once around the natural lake to spot a tortoise. Photo opportunities galore so keep the camera handy! Lawn sites for your fully self contained Caravan up to 3 nights, powered or unpowered sites in shady locations with lake and garden views. From $25 per night for 2 persons per van no ablutions available for caravan owners.


A beautiful Australian, rural backdrop for your special day under the gum trees, expanses of lawn, white standard roses plus rose arbor and a bed of 80 hybrid tea roses in the rose garden. Plenty of space if you have a special car or motor bike to be included in the photos or use our cattle or sheep in the background. 

Farm Animals
Galloway cattle, 4 goats roam around and Dorper sheep are lazing by the lake. The chooks are happy and laying well. Guinea fowl, goose and ducks roam freely. Abbey (Border terrier) is waiting for a pat and Zena (the shed cat) might show up at any time. New lambs May 2012 including twins.

Ruin, Appleyard and 3 Muscovy Ducks (not shown) are fossicking about or swimming in the dam or lake.  Each morning we or you can let them out but they like to be housed each night.  But please leave the chooks in their pen or we can't find the eggs for breakfast.

Sensational sunrises, sunsets and clear dark nights with brilliant stars, planets, and amazing moon rises, try your skill at spotting a satellite or meteorite, avid photographers have the opportunity for amazing milky way night shots. Like to learn more about the night skies then let us book a stargazing show ticket for you and yours at the nearby Gingin Observatory.

Swans, wild ducks, magpies, wild geese, mountain ducks, spoonbills, cockatoos, eagles, kookaburras see how many bird varieties visit. Wildflowers in flower for most of the year, kangaroo paws and smoke bush in September, Morrison and the Australian Christmas trees with brilliant orange flowers in December.
